Russell Westbrook is on a roll with the Oklahoma City Thunder, as he clocks in consistent triple-doubles reminiscent of a young Michael Jordan.

Westbrook's latest fait accompli came just days after he broke his face when five games ago, he broke the zygomatic arch bone in his cheek when in the Thunder's loss to the Portland Trailblazers.

Undeterred, Westbrook showed up on Wednesday night with a face night and ready to start against the Philadelphia 76ers.

For a player with a broken bone in his face, he certainly did not play like one. The 26-year old made a career high 49 points, 10 assists, and 16 rebounds in the 123-118 overtime win against the Sixers.

While fans and pundits were awestruck and amazed at the performance they had just witnessed that night, Westbrook looked disappointed at not hitting 50 points.

The first rare quality of Westbrook's feat is that a triple-double with 49 points has not been done since Larry Bird was playing. Westbrook tied the Celtics great with his last performance.

Apart from Bird, he also joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, and Elgin Baylor as the only players with 49 points in a triple-double since 1963.

However, it gets much rarer as this was the fourth straight triple-double that Westbrook has done. The last person who was churning out triple-doubles like it was breathing air was His Airness, Jordan in 1989.

According to ESPN, Westbrook has three triple-doubles in the 2014-2015 season where he scored 35 points. The rest of the National Basketball Association combined their records to come up with a big egg, as no one has done this kind of thing before.

Vince Carter is the only player to make 45 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists in a game over the past 30 seasons.

Could Westbrook be on the road to greatness? Is he a championship-caliber point guard who will reach greatness?

First thing is first though, he should heal is face first, but maybe it isn't even necessary for him to make his triple-doubles.
