Katie Couric and Michelle Pfeiffer Pitching TV Series

Katie Couric is reported to be pitching a TV series about the network morning news business and she wants her friend, actress Michelle Pfeiffer to star in it.

The former Today Show news anchor and current Yahoo Global News Anchor is said to have pitched the idea to a number of television networks including Showtime, HBO, AMC, Netflix, Yahoo and The EW.

Also on-board for the show are Murphy Brown's creator Diane English and Two and a Half Men executive producers Kim and Eric Tannenbaum. Although the Tannenbaums are under contract with CBS TV Productions, they have been given approval to produce Couric's show without the studio.

The series is said to be a comedic look behind the scenes of a morning news television show. Couric has clarified that the show will not be a complete autobiographical account of her own experiences.

Although the show is hardly the last show inspired by the TV news business, it will be the first one to have a real life news anchor attached to it.

Couric famously left the CBS Today Show in 2006 after 15 years of serving as one of the shows lead anchors. Although rumored to have had a fall out with fellow Today anchor Matt Lauer, CBS confirmed that Couric left the show because she was designated to be the new managing editor of the CBS evening news.

If picked up, the project would mark the first starring role in a TV series for Pfeiffer who is an Oscar nominated actress.
