Comcast's Customer Satisfaction Rates are Horrendous

Comcast has never been one for winning customers over with great service and low prices. Instead, it chooses to create an oligopoly in cities and states with the other internet service providers, slowing the growth of broadband speeds and price in the United States.

Even though it's looking to win back Atlanta customers with 2 Gbps speeds to compete with Google Fiber, the rest of the country is still mostly unhappy with the service.

In a recent SurveyMonkey poll, Comcast managed -50 percent customer loyalty and 26 percent customer service satisfaction. These are extremely poor numbers even against the competition.

On customer loyalty, the only one hitting the -50 percent is Time Warner Cable, the company trying to merge with Comcast. The industry average is -17 percent, with AT&T at -10 percent and Verizon/DirecTV at 0 percent.

Customer service satisfaction is the worst for Comcast, because even TWC was able to hit 37 percent, while Comcast just manages to hit 26 percent. The industry benchmark is 50 percent, with AT&T at 43 percent, Verizon at 44 percent and DirecTV at 46 percent.

The fact the two most hated companies in the U.S. are merging is worrying, especially considering U.S. regulators allowed Comcast to acquire NBCUniversal, another controversial acquisition.

Comcast claims the acquisition of Time Warner Cable will only lead to more competitive prices and better support, but in notes to the Federal Communications Commission and other regulatory bodies, Comcast shows no signs of keeping TWC's better support staff.

Google Fiber is not getting into America quick enough to stop Comcast and TWC from cleaning house. Once it has over 50 percent of the broadband market, it will be near impossible for anyone to challenge Comcast without having billions in the bank -- which Google has in abundance.
