Several Apple Watch Models on Waiting List Until June

(Photo : Reuters) The Apple Watch appears to be a hit, at least on some models.

The Apple Watch officially went live in multiple countries for pre-order, kicking off the first launch of a new Apple product in five years.

Reviews claim it's a well-designed, clunky and volatile mess of product -- but that won't stop millions from buying it.

On the online store a few hours after launch, several versions of the smartwatch were pushed back 4-6 weeks or until June. Some of the Watch Edition models are already pushed back to July, although we don't know if that's due to lack of stock or mass interest.

Either way, it's clear the Apple Watch is off to a relatively good start. Apple hasn't announced any figures right now, but having to push back dates for a month or two is not uncommon when trying to build hype around a product.

The Watch Sport seems to be by far the favorite and also the most well stocked. Every single option has been put on hold till June. The Watch Sport bands have no differentiating features other than color, making them all the same price.

Most of the original Watch models are on a 4-6 week wait, although a few like the Blue buckle 38 mm and Pink buckle 38 mm are both on June waitlist. Surprisingly, the Black 42 mm buckle isn't available until July, showing large demand for that model.

Interestingly, the Watch Edition with sport bands are all unavailable until July while the bright red and midnight blue are both only on a waiting list until June. That means the ultra rich aren't willing to spend an extra $7,000 to own one of the more premium bands.

The odd one out is the red rose buckle, which is also on a waitlist until July. It's not surprising to see it's the most popular out of the four $17,000 watches since Apple has marketed it heavily in promotions.

Although the Apple Watch might be getting a lot of traction, several reviewers believe customers will be disappointed. The UI is first grade and has a lot of bugs; the apps are not fully optimized to the system and the price is all over the place when it comes to the Watch.

We're expecting bigger things in the next iteration of the Apple Watch, which should be coming next year. Apple hasn't confirmed if it's working on the second iteration, perhaps due to devaluation if the Watch Edition is only prime for one year.
