Apple iPad Pro Case Leaked, Coming Later This Year

(Photo : Nowhereelse) A new case leak shows the size of the iPad Pro.

The iPad Pro leaks have been pretty quiet over the last few months but French site Nowhereelse has picked up a few cases apparently belonging to the iPad Pro.

The dimensions are 12-inches (307 mm) by 8-inches (222 mm), making the iPad Pro a much larger device than the iPad Air. It should be around 6.8 mm to 7.2 mm thin, around the same thinness as the iPhone 6 and iPad Air.

Interestingly, leaks have said the iPad Pro screen will be 12.9-inches, larger than the case by almost one inch. We're not sure if that means the leak is fake or that the rumor of a 12.9-inch screen is false.

There are apparently two connectors on the iPad Pro: a Lighting and USB-C connector. This might mean Apple is preparing keyboard and other accessories to fit on the Lighting connector, while adding USB-C for charging.

USB-C looks to be the standard Apple will use for charging all devices in the future starting with the 12-inch MacBook. We wouldn't be surprised to see either the iPhone 6S or 7 come with a USB-C connector, moving away from the Lighting connector.

Apple for the most part seems to be working on open standards from now on, removing Thunderbolt support on the 12-inch MacBook. These closed standards have been a burden for professionals looking to move from Windows to Mac due to the costs associated with peripherals that only Apple manufactures.

Hopefully, the iPad Pro will be a real eye opener when it comes to tablet innovation. The iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 were two of the most basic upgrades imaginable last year, adding Touch ID and a few minor upgrades to performance and specs.

Compared to the massive changes Microsoft has added to the Surface Pro over the past two years, or the Nexus 9, it does seem a bit shocking that Apple is stuck in a rut.

This rut has cost Apple millions in potential iPad sales because nobody feels the need to upgrade. The iPad 2 is still the most popular tablet on the market despite Apple launching it over three years ago.
