The actor, whose parents did not have him baptized into any religion, said that ever since he was a young kid, he had always been interested in religion and often explored different beliefs.

Crowed began his research on Scientology by watching a video he bought from a video store.  He felt that the video did not offer him much information so he discussed it with Tom Cruise.  Cruise did not try to persuade Crowe into joining but instead told him that if Scientology really interests him then all he has to do is pursue it. Crowe admitted that eventually, he did not continue to pursue Scientology.

Crowe's family is very lenient when it comes to religion.  His mother said it was just fine for him to go to church on his own. While growing up, Crowe tried out Catholicism, Presbyterian, and Anglican services.

Crowe also said that he went to a temple and found the Baha'i faith interesting.  He also said that he was a very inquisitive person even though he was brought up in a non-religious household.

The extreme beliefs of the Scientology Church has, on numerous occasions been the subject of interest for society. Recently HBO released a documentary titled "Going Clear" where it featured the Church's abusive treatment of its ex-members.

Crowe is currently starring and directing the historical fiction drama, "The Water Diviner" based on the book of the same title, written by Andrew Anastasios and Dr Meaghan Wilson-Anastasios. The film will be released on April 24.
