No one will turn out as a winner should a conflict between the United States and China breaks out in a hot spot in the Pacific, a Chinese military news site reported.

Challenging the power of the US Navy in the Western Pacific will not benefit China at all because it would only result to a lose-lose situation for both parties, said an article featured on a military news web portal on Sina.

The article cited possible reasons for a US-China battle in the Pacific, including China's annexing of Taiwan, the conflict surrounding the disputed South and East China Seas, and the disputed with Japan over a piece of island, among others.

As an example, the article cited that China will have to launch a military action to annex Taiwan in order to achieve its ambitions in the Pacific, with Chinese submarine fleet pushing forward and ground troops overwhelming the Taiwanese territory.

"China will be aiming for a quick victory," the military news article said.

But that will not be as easy as just that, experts said. According to the article the US will stand in the way of China in any military solution that it will launch in the Pacific.

According to the article, the United States will employ a protracted war of attrition using conventional wear machines that would pounce on China's slowing economy, pulling the country back to what it was 30 years ago.

The article added that the US can utilize its Seventh Fleet in ensuring that Taiwan is protected from any attack. The US Seventh Fleet has a carrier and an Expeditionary Strike Group that can also be supported by US Carrier Air Wing 5 that is on standby at the Naval Air Facilit in Japan.

American troops stationed in Japan's Kadena Air Base are also ready to provide ground support while several naval ships are ready to be deployed at sea, the article added.

"China's military will not be able to defeat this amount of firepower," the article added.

Experts, however, said a China-Taiwan conflict may not take place considering that bilateral relationships of the have been improving in recent years.
