'Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain' Puts Release Date in Jeopardy; Italian Neurosurgeon Sues Company

Konami recently announced the delay of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" due to a threat of lawsuit from an Italian neurosurgeon plus the fact that this is Hideo Kojima's last work.

The controversy surrounding the usage of Italian neurosurgeon's likeness without his written consent in the "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" is an issue Konami cannot ignore, as it affects the release date of the much-awaited game. Although the game did not mention Dr. Sergio Canavero, the trailer, which was recently released, showed some likeness to the doctor featured in the game.

The complaint from Dr. Canavero stated that there is a trailer of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" shows marked similarity to his features. The video shows a doctor, physically like the neurosurgeon, and then violent computer generated scenes followed. He stressed that it may taken from one of his talks during the TED Conference.

Although he does not know the suspects, he will proceed with the lawsuit saying that it is a crime to use somebody else's image without permission. The Italian police are now investigating this issue, as stated by Gamilng Bolt. The results of the investigation will determine the release date of the much-anticipated game.

Another issue is that Konami could be turning its back on the console business slowly, since it is not the company's main revenue booster and that it is only Konami's part of the business. Learning this will disappoint a lot of fans, according to Franchise Herald

On the other hand, Konami's North America branch responds to a statement from a player that they will listen to the issues that the fans are facing, and will also check out what is wrong. They are determined to improve the level of the game for enthusiasts to have great playing experience.
