Mariah Carey told fans that she cancelled her show in Las Vegas because she was recovering from bronchitis, but sources revealed to Confidential that it was not just because of her lungs.

The diva's cancelled show on Wednesday at The Colosseum in Caesar's Palace was reportedly due to her inadequate preparation for her two-month residency. Mariah Carey was expected to belt out 18 of her chart-topping hits during the cancelled show.

A source told the celebrity website, "Mariah simply did not rehearse enough before starting this many concerts."

Even the 46-year old singer's first few shows were reportedly not living up to the hype and everyone involved was wondering why Mariah Carey did not "rehearse to death."

Mariah Carey is only one week into her highly anticipated residency and other insiders said that Wednesday night's cancelled show was not the first sign of trouble. Aside from a couple of under par performances, the "Always Be My Baby" singer was apparently also told to work on her timing.

Though Mariah Carey can definitely sing, she hardly moves on her shows, said the insider who also added that perhaps the lack of preparation time is what contributed to the lack of some dance routines in the show.

On late Wednesday, Mariah Carey took to her Twitter to inform her fans that she has been recently fighting bronchitis and was advised by her doctor to take some vocal rest.

"I am so sorry to cancel but I promise to make it up to you," Mariah Carey's tweet read.

However, fans who were eager to watch Mariah Carey were disappointed when they were greeted with a sign announcing the cancelled show and a promised rescheduling.

Another source shared that there was a long line outside of the theater about half an hour before the show, but it was apparently only for refunds for the cancelled show.

Mariah Carey's publicist, Chris Chambers, clarified these claims and affirmed that the cancelled show was because of the doctor's orders, but he assured fans that Carey is expected to recover in time for her performance on Saturday.

He also shared that Mariah Carey's doctor felt another day of rest would help the singer avoid another cancelled show in the near future.
