Gennady Golovkin Could Be The Next Manny Pacquiao; Could 'GGV' Fight Floyd Mayweather?

The new name in the boxing career Gennady "GGV" Golovkin might be the next Manny Pacquiao to defeat Floyd Mayweather.

According to Bleacher Report, Golovkin is similar to Pacquiao as he is from in a foreign country and brings "fan-friendly style." GGV, just like Pacman, has improved his English-speaking skills and has the same personality as the Filipino fighter.

Golovkin has the highest knockout percentage in the history of the middleweight division, where in 33 wins he has knocked out 30 of his opponents with 20 consecutive knockouts; however, unlike Pacquiao, Golovkin has a better head movement and footwork. In his recent fight against Willie Monroe Jr., he has thrown a total of 297 punches and 133 of them landed to his opponent.

Moreover, to capture his stardom, "GGV" needs to defeat huge names in the boxing industry as similar to Pacquiao when the latter defeated Miguel Cotto, Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley.

According to reports, fans are clamouring that Golovkin, a middleweight (160 pounds), should fight Mayweather (154 pounds). In an interview, Golovkin was asked if he would drop to super welterweight to face Mayweather and he replied that this is business and it needs to have a contract. Meanwhile, Floyd Mayweather Sr. the father of Mayweather, said that his son will beat Golovkin even with the weight discrepancy, cited Sporting News.

It can be noted that Mayweather has fought three times at 154 pounds defeating Miguel Cotto, Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya.

It is said that currently, Golovkin is the "most exciting fighter in the sport" because he has a fighting style, which appeals to casual fans as well as basic personal skills and charisma that Mayweather lacks.

On other boxing reports, Mayweather stated that he will fight one more time in September prior to his retirement while Golovkin said he also wants to have his next fight in September.

As of the writing, there are no reports yet if the two will fight in September or a rematch will happen between Mayweather and Pacquiao.
