Adblock Plus is the most popular extension for Firefox and one of the most popular on Chrome, Opera, and Internet Explorer. For the longest time, the developers have been focusing mainly on the extension but that is all about to change.

The co-founder of the company revealed that it has released a web browser for Android devices that is designed for blocking advertisements. With such web browser, users can hope to achieve a browsing experience without intrusive ads and a better battery life.

"As people have embraced the mobile Web, advertisers have rushed in after them and destroyed the user experience with ads that are often thoughtlessly designed, as well as mobile ad networks that are riddled with security holes," Adblock Plus co-founder Till Faida said in a statement.

Studies have shown that loading ads can consume 23 percent of battery life on a smartphone. Furthermore, some mobile ads are infected with malware properties that can damage a smartphone's operating system or spy on users.

This is not the first time Adblock Plus company tried to bring its wares to the Android platform. It can be noted that in 2013, it had its own app in the Google Play Store but it was removed by the search giant, alongside several other ad-blocking apps.

It ius said that Google made the decision to remove those apps mainly because the company's bread and butter come from advertising, and mobile advertising was just beginning to show strong signs of becoming profitable.

On the matter of the Adblock Plus web browser for Android; we should point out that it is based on Firefox for Android. It is the openness of Mozilla that made it possible for such an app to be created. The big question is, will Google find a problem with browser and remove it, or will the company choose to leave it be?

For those who want to give the new browser a shot, the company requires that everyone joins its Google+ community, and from there, click on the beta option in button to gain access. There is also an option under "About Community" to download the beta via a QR code for the folks who are not interested in joining Google+.
