Although the hosts won three straight games after beating Japan, India, and Iran in their first three outings, their record was officially up to 4-0 because of the virtual no-show of their supposed to be first opponent in the tournament, team Fiji.

The Fiji's women's national volleyball team was not able to compete in the games because of a fruitless negotiation between the county's government and the Fiji Volleyball Association, according to a report from Tribune India.

With an average height of 1.87 meters, China towered over the hapless and overmatched Japanese squad, who was actually Japan's backup national team. Japan sent their B-team to this year's Asian championships because they are already secured of a spot in the Rio 2016 World Olympic Qualification Tournament as the qualification round's host. The top three teams in this championship, apart from Japan, will compete in the qualifiers, according to Tehran Times.

Japan's B-team tried to pull off an upset in the first set as they executed strong and fast attacks. But China still proved its height dominance by blocking crucial Japanese spikes and went on to win the opening set by six points, 25-19.

China began to stamp their class in the second set as they took advantage of the young Japanese players' inexperience, pulling away with a 25-14 score.

Then, in the third set, China's Zeng Chunlei and Zhang Changning led a 10-0 attack to show Japan what top-level volleyball is, drubbing them out of the building with a 25-10 victory.

Chunlei led China with a game-high 14 points, while Japan was steered by Sakamoto Nanaka's 10.
