The long-impending firing of Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau has finally happened. And trust was said to be the main issue.

The Chicago Bulls fired adamant head coach Tom Thibodeau on Thursday after five playoff-starred seasons amidst talks that lack of trust between the management and the coaching staff is the reason behind the move.

In a statement published at ESPN in Nick Friedell's article, Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf cited that Chicago basketball seemed to have lost the culture of trust that they were striving hard to maintain all through the years.

Reinsdorf added that if they want the franchise to "continue to grow and succeed" then they have to make "difficult" but "necessary" changes to the coaching staff. He also mentioned that the number one consideration of the team and its management is to accomplish their goals and to carry out the commitment that they have made to the fans.

Bulls GM Gar Forman and executive VP John Paxson are all in the same boat with Reinsdorf in the decision. During a news conference yesterday afternoon, Forman reiterated Reinsdorf's statement by saying that a "culture of communication that builds a trust" is much needed for a basketball franchise to grow. He noted that everyone in the organization must be pulling each other "in the same direction," as reported by Yahoo Sports' Andrew Seligman.

Meanwhile, VP and former player Paxson admitted the strain in the relationship with Thibodeau. Paxson said that there is an "obvious breakdown" between the management and Coach Tom, and that it was not a secret to everyone else in the organization, and maybe even across the league as well. But he also intimated that if the Bulls would have won the championship this year, then Thibs might still remain as coach.

Reports have revealed two days ago that Chicago Bulls players were already told by management that Thibodeau will no longer be back to coach them next season, as per MSN Sports' Sean Deveney. They were all shocked to find out it will only be two days later that the official announcement will be made.
