Boxing News 2015: Jorge Linares Won WBC Lightweight Championship Against Kevin Mitchell

Jorge Linares, Dagenham Lightweight, won over Kevin Mitchell for the WBC lightweight championship.

According to Sky Sports, Linares floored Mitchell on the 5th and 10th round and battered his opponent left eye thoughout the fight.

They explained that both boxers were cautious on their approach on the second round of the match.

However, in the third round Mitchell became aggressive with a left punch to the body but on the fourth round Linares had a cut on the side of his head while Mitchell got a huge cut above his left eye.

BBC explained that by the tenth round Mitchell had difficulties seeing through his left eye and the referee had to call off the fight.

Despite Mitchell's past alcohol addiction, he should still be tremendously proud of himself because he had already won six fights since training with Tony Sims in 2013.

For nine months, he spent 180,000 pounds on alcohol but since then he had already attended Alcohol Anonymous meetings.

Richie Woodhall, former world champion, said that Mitchell gave all is heart and courage on the fight.

They explained that by the end of the eighth round his face was already a mess with his almost shut right eye and his left eye bleeding profusely. Despite these, he still continued to give snappy counters to his opponent.

He explained that it was hard to mentally come back from the wound he gained from the blows of Linares.

Mail Online said that the he had shown a warrior's heart by fighting Linares despite a non-existent vision he had from of his wound.

They explained that this fight served as an avenue for him in overcoming his addiction. They said that this is what kept him going despite all odds.

Linares had already won seven straight fights including five knockouts but had stopped on his professional boxing career three times.
