Reports have been widespread that Manny Pacquiao only wants to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. when he returns from injury next year. He plans it to be his farewell fight as well before retiring from boxing for good. However, if Manny wants his career to end on a high note, a fifth fight with arch-nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez would be a better choice both for him and for boxing fans around the world.

Reports have recently arisen that PacMan is only interested in a rematch with Mayweather should he fight again. As per Boxing News 24's Chris Williams, Pacquiao reportedly turned down the plan of Top Rank chief Bob Arum to pit him against either Amir Khan or Kell Brook in Dubai next year. Manny wants Money and no one else, a Filipino insider allegedly said, according to Joaquin Henson's column in Philstar.

If this is the case, then Pacquiao is making a dumb move. Why? If his last fight would be against Mayweather, then he would most certainly retire after another humiliating loss. Yes, he would earn big bucks again, but Floyd labeling him as a "sore loser" would forever tarnish his reputation.

It's enough that the Mayweather fight proved he can dance with the unbeaten champ despite his damaged shoulder. People would always remember that Mayweather only won because Pacquiao is not at his best.

But what will happen if Floyd whips Manny's butt again even when he is at 100%? PacMan's last fight would be a testament that he is not in the same level as all the boxing greats. His legacy will be tainted, and he should not let that happen.

Marquez is reportedly retiring as well, and he also wants his last fight to be against Mayweather, according to The Daily Mail's Jeff Powell. Apparently, his priority is also money than legacy.

Nevertheless, for Pacquiao, pushing a final fight with Marquez would be his best move. First, he will have the opportunity to redeem himself from that stunning 6th round knockout loss. Pacquiao has a better chance of beating Marquez than Mayweather, which gives him the chance to ride off into the sunset with a victory.

Second, and most important of all, fans do not want another episode of "Dancing with the Stars" or a new "Sometimes I Run" music video. Marquez had always been Pacquiao's greatest nemesis all throughout his career, and their fights have always produced the right kind of excitement, gore, and violence that fans want and appreciate.

The money will always be there whether he fights Mayweather or Marquez. But reputation, legacy, and the love and admiration of his countrymen and the global boxing audience? It all hangs in the balance more against Mayweather than with Marquez.
