It's three months away from the start of the regular season and from the looks of it all indicators are pointing in the way of Dallas Cowboys' Joseph Randle to be the team's lead running back in September, via Bleacher Report.

Randle is receiving the reigns of the Cowboys' backfield from DeMarco Murray, a First Team All-Pro, two-time Pro Bowl player, and 2014 AP Offensive Player of the Year, who led the league in yardage last season with 1,845.

The 23-year-old Wichita native was Murray's primary backup last year, and he actually did well. Randle only ran 343 yards in 51 carries, giving him an amazing 6.7 yards per attempt, which is one of the best in the NFL.

This provoked the former Oklahoma State Cowboy to comment something unnecessary that led to an internal reprimand from Dallas coaches and the front office, as per HNGN.

In late May, Randle told reporters that because Murray was getting all of the playing time last year, he was not given many chances to prove himself. He then said that the former Oklahoma Sooners standout "left a lot of meat on the bone" despite the stunning amount of yards he was able to put up.

SB Nation reported that Murray accepted the remarks with class and said he hoped that Randle "can taste some of that meat this year," as if giving his blessings that he should be his replacement in the Dallas starting lineup.

Well, things are looking pretty good for no. 21.

Randle main rival for the starting spot would be former Oakland Raider Darren McFadden.

Many analysts believe, though, that the 2008 first round fourth pick is starting to slow down because of wear and tear. McFadden is only 27 years old, but the number of injuries he suffered throughout the years has not allowed him to fully maximize his running potential. Still, he is considered by NFL fanatics as one of the most exciting running backs in the league.

As of the moment, Randle and McFadden are sharing equal reps in team OTAs and coach Jason Garett promises that this distribution will continue through the team's minicamp, which starts on June 16.
