Sacramento Kings fans should be happy that their franchise center DeMarcus Cousins is reportedly staying with the team for at least one more year, according to Bleacher Report.

Cousins had long been rumored to be involved in an impending trade since the beginning of last season and even as the league's February deadline approached this year. But every single one of them remained as it was, only a buzz.

Just recently, there had been a lot of speculations with regards to the possibility of Boogie being dealt away to the Boston Celtics or the Los Angeles Lakers for draft picks this offseason.

However, Basketball Insiders' Steve Kyler doused all these rumors by saying in an interview that the Kings would like to wait for a full season before deciding whether to trade or keep the five-year veteran and one-time All-Star.

The root of all these rumors is said to be the hiring of new Sacramento head coach George Karl in February. Kyler said that Cousins and sacked coach Mike Malone are in very good terms with one another, and the latter was disappointed about the management's decision to replace Malone.

Reports had surfaced that month that Cousins and his camp are not in favor of Karl's signing, but it was quickly subdued as the regular season ended and Cousins spoke highly of the 2013 NBA Coach of the Year awardee in interviews.

Karl did not do any better than Malone that time as the team did not advance to the playoffs. He coached Sacramento to an 11-19 win-loss record during the team's last 30 regular season games with him at the helm.

Meanwhile, Kurt Helin of NBC Sports' Pro Basketball reported that Karl actually likes Cousins and the management is aware that they have a "franchise cornerstone piece" in the 24-year-old double-double machine. Helin also said that the feeling is mutual for the former Kentucky Wildcat, which means Boogie is staying put.

Cousins is currently entering the second year of a four-year contract extension he signed with the Kings before the 2014-2015 season worth $65.6 million. That big of a contract reportedly meant that Kings' owner Vivek Ranadive is said to be all-in with the 6-foot-11 center for the long term.
