According to a story, Prophet Muhammad was once consumed camel's urine as it may cure illness. That's why people think urine from camel can cure illness.

Based on the passage of Hadith, Muslim Holy Book, shared by Metro,

"Some people of 'Ukl or 'Uraina tribe came to Medina and its climate did not suit them..

So the Prophet ordered them to go to the herd of (Milch) camels and to drink their milk and urine (as a medicine).

So they went as directed and after they became healthy..."

Due to number of MERS victims in South Korea, which there 10 got killed, WHO is urging people to stop drinking camel urine to curb the spread of the virus. The first MERS outbreak detected was in Saudi Arabia in 2012.

Last Tuesday, there were 95 infected by virus in S. Korea and 2,500 people were in quarantine. MERS is caused by new strain of corona virus that can affect people and animals. The disease is believed originated from animals before it passed to humans.

Tech Times reports corona virus was detected in camels and those who are infected by MERS came into contact with camels before the disease occurred in their bodies. WHO recommends people to observe good hygiene and avoid consumption of camel's milk, urine and meat that has not been properly cooked.

"General hygiene measures, such as regular hand washing before and after touching animals and avoiding contact with sick animals, should be adhered to. "Food hygiene practices should be observed. People should avoid drinking raw camel milk or camel urine, or eating meat that has not been properly cooked," the health agency said during the press release.

In 2012, there were 1,190 documented MERS cases and it has already caused 440 deaths worldwide.
