Usually, Nexus comes up with one new smartphone every year, but this year, it was reported that Google would be releasing two new Nexus handsets. This would be an unusual break from the regular trend. For each model, Google has chosen to go with a different hardware partner. The two new models expected to release in markets this year are 5.2-inch LG handset and a 5.7-inch model from Huawei.

LG was already associated to Nexus development in 2013 when it developed the Nexus 5 phone. This is the second time it has got the nod for a Nexus project.

Huawei is the new member on board; however, the association to Huawei is shocking because the company had been under the scanner of doubt in America in lieu of the security concerns. Though the concerns were focused on the infrastructure and not consumer products, the partnership was not expected. Additionally, even in China, a lot of Google's services are usually bypassed due to the security concerns raised by the local government.

Meanwhile, the deal is a big boost for Huawei as it will give the China-based company the much needed opportunity to boost its presence in the American markets. The company is not expecting major returns in terms of brand recognition, but the partnership will surely add more credibility to its market reputation.

The new model of Nexus is also expected to carry the new Android operating system of Google.
