Mexican broadcaster Televisa announced on Monday that its country will not send its best beauty for this year's Miss Universe. The declaration was made following the statement of TV mogul Donald Trump discriminating against Mexicans. Trump's speech was part of his bid to be a Republican nominee for the 2015 presidential election.

In his June 16 speech, Trump lashed out insults at Mexican immigrants by calling them "rapists" and drug-runners.

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best . . . They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people," Trump proclaimed.

Televisa further stated that it deems "unacceptable" any commercial relationship with the Miss Universe pageant and companies under the Trump organization. The broadcasting company, in partnership with former Miss Universe Lupita Jones, holds a pageant to choose a Mexican representative for the renowned beauty title, Reuters reported.

"Mr. Trump has showed no understanding nor respect for Mexican immigrants and he has offended all Mexican people," Televisa remarked, as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.

Four days ago, American Spanish-language broadcast television network Univision declared that it will not air Miss Universe on July 12 and has severed its connection with the Miss Universe Organization. Univision is partly owned by Televisa. Last Monday, NBC also cancelled its business relationship with Trump on grounds of the tycoon's "derogatory statements." In this light, the company will no longer air Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants. Trump will also be axed from his stint as host in the reality competition "The Celebrity Apprentice," The Wrap cited.

Aside from American companies, Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim severed ties with Trump. According to his spokesperson on Monday, Slim has cancelled a TV production venture that he and American TV personality Larry King are developing with the political aspirant.

Just two weeks into the announcement of his presidential bid, Trump has received quite a number of opposition from several entertainment and political figures. One notable celebrity was Cher, who posted on Twitter that she is moving to Jupiter if Trump gets elected.
