Decomposed Remains Identified as Those of Missing Orlando Teen

The family of missing Orlando teen Alexandria Chery was informed Sunday that the decomposing body authorities found in a wooded area near Osceola-Polk Line Road are indeed the remains of the 16-year-old girl.

Although an autopsy was conducted, Orange County Sherriff spokeswoman Jane Watrel told news sources that the results have not yet yielded a positive identification. Despite this, authorities will continue to work under the assumption that it is the body of Alexandria Chery.

Police have pinpointed and arrested a lead suspect in the case. 43-year-old Sanel Saint Simon remains in custody in Orange County Jail and is suspected of having a part in Alexandria's disappearance and death.

Saint Simon, who was Alexandria's mother's, live in boyfriend, faces charges for attempting to destroy evidence and for giving false information to law-enforcement.

Alexandria was reported missing on Monday by her mother, Rosalie. Reportedly, when Rosalie returned from work at around 6pm Monday she found blood splattered in her daughter's bedroom.

Alexandria was last seen in her bedroom at 8 a.m. that morning by her mother. Rosalie reported that the girl planned on staying home that day as she wasn't feeling well.

The teen didn't answer her mother's calls all day, causing Rosalie to feel concern about her whereabouts, but Rosalie waited until she returned home to alert authorities to her child's disappearance.

Rosalie also told authorities that her teen daughter's personal belongings and bedding were missing. Police believe that Saint Simon attempted to clean up the blood in the room with bleach.

However, authorities haven't stopped seeking out other leads and are currently asking the public to report any sightings of a black Pontiac along County Road 532 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday.

Saint Simon has neither confirmed nor denied the charges and authorities have labeled him as "uncooperative" in the investigation.
