The Los Angeles Lakers had reportedly placed Hollywood wingman Nick Young on the trading block to have room for the signing of 7-foot-2 free agent center Roy Hibbert from Indiana, according to Lakers Nation.

After missing out on big-name frontcourt players in free agency, Mitch Kupchak settled in for the next best big thing with Hibbert. Additionally, the team had also agreed to acquire Lou Williams and Brandon Bass to shore up the storied franchise's thin lineup and possibly get them back into relevant conversation.

However, taking these new players would require the team to unload some of the old to create cap space and Young's was one of the first names mentioned.

Aside from contract issues, another alleged reason why the Lakers are planning to let go of the eight-year veteran is the supposed incompatibility of his game with that of legendary shooting guard Kobe Bryant.

Young and Bryant have had on and off court issues before but most of them are believed to be merely teasing and exchanges of jokes. Their mismatch, however, is more pronounced when playing on the court as it seems like the Lakers need two balls to accommodate both players' volume and contested shooting.

Adding Williams, another volume shooter and the 2015 NBA Sixth Man of the Year awardee, in the mix would spell disaster and so the most sensible next step is to part ways with Young as he is deemed the "most expendable", as per Bleacher Report.

The former USC Trojan had one of the worst field goal percentages in the league last season and is one of its most inconsistent players. He actually shot better from the three-point distance than from within, 36.9 percent as against 36.3 percent via SB Nation, and both are an eyesore of a number. His free throw shooting is great at 89.2 percent and contributes about 13 points a night, but other than that there had been no widely-regarded use for the backup shooting guard.

The Los Angeles native's lifestyle and off-court antics were perfect for Hollywood entertainment, having a celebrity girlfriend and a "swag" when doing interviews, but his on-court play has not made him highly valuable to the Lakers' future plans.
