At literally the final hours, the Dallas Cowboys and Dez Bryant have finally agreed on a five-year, $70 million deal to ensure that the 26-year-old wide receiver will be available when the team opens the new season against the New York Giants on September 13th, as reported by USA Today.

The Cowboys could also count on Bryant to be in their training camp this August, which is essential to refine the on-field harmony of the talented wideout and their virtuoso quarterback Tony Romo. Dallas fans are surely ecstatic about this recent development after months of unblinking standoff between the two parties.

Bryant was given a one-year franchise tag worth $12.8 million for this season on March 2, which made him one of the highest-paid wideout's in the league, but the former Oklahoma State standout wanted a longer contract. He insisted that while the offer was "cool", his family needs the security of his employment for the long-term.

The Cowboys' management seemed initially indifferent about Bryant's claims of sitting out regular season games if he was not given a longstanding deal before the July 15 deadline, saying that they are confident the 6-foot-2 Galveston County native will not miss games because he needs the money anyway.

However, this recent development proved that team owner, president, and general manager Jerry Jones was true to his word of wanting "long-term security" for Bryant.

The $13 million-plus per year deal is the second highest among wide receivers in the NFL today, next only to Calvin Johnson's $16 million per year deal with the Detroit Lions.

Although Bryant did not exactly get the amount he wanted, which was somewhere along that of Johnson's, the star receiver is reportedly "extremely excited" and "more optimistic than ever" of his extension and had even mentioned "Super Bowl" five times during his latest three-minute interview, according to Bleacher Report.

The report also indicated that the Denver Broncos had reached the exact same agreement with their own wideout, Demaryius Thomas, a few moments after Bryant signed his.

Bryant is coming off his "finest season to date", as per Yahoo Sports, as he averaged 15 yards on 88 catches and a career-high 16 touchdowns in 16 games.

The team is looking to advance deep in the playoffs this coming season and talks of a Super Bowl appearance is what currently drives Bryant and Romo.
