Former three-division world champion Adrien Broner is speculated to face former WBO light welterweight titlist Ruslan Provodnikov this November as a return fight after his unanimous decision loss against Shawn Porter in late June this year, as reported by Boxing News 24.

Broner (30-2, 22 KOs), while only 26, seems to be on a performance decline as he struggled in his last bout versus Porter. He managed to floor Porter in the last round to make the fight somehow interesting, but other than that the Floyd Mayweather apprentice was dominated throughout the match as he spent most of it clinching and backpedaling much like his master.

The rumor came up with the report of ESPN's Dan Rafael, saying that Provodnikov (24-4, 17 KOs) is set to tie up with Showtime for a three-fight deal soon. The Russian brawler recently finished his four-fight contract with HBO and with the television giant not keen on extending the agreement, he is looking to its rival network to showcase his fights.

Provodnikov had also been struggling lately, losing three of his last five fights. The most recent one is a majority decision loss to Argentine boxer Lucas Matthysse at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York on April 18.

A win in the potential late fall or early winter fight provides an opportunity for each boxer to prove himself as an elite fighter once again.

If the fight pushes through, The Problem is expected to face an extremely tough challenge from the Siberian Rocky. Provodnikov always wants to engage and fight toe-to-toe, and Broner will have a hard time if his game plan would be to clinch and execute pot shots again. After all, he is not Mayweather.

Broner needs to punch more, land combinations, move in and out, and keep the fight in the center of the ring if he wants to have a chance of pulling off a decision against the Russian.

Meanwhile, Artie Pelullo, Provodnikov's promoter, had denied the rumor of his client fighting Broner on November, as per Boxing Scene.

Pelullo insisted that there had been no discussions between them and Broner's camp and neither does he expect a fight with the American taking place anytime soon.
