Current WBC world heavyweight titlist Deontay Wilder is looking to fight the reigning heavyweight world champion Wladimir Klitschko next year, but the 29-year-old wants it to happen in the United States and not anywhere else, to unify all word heavyweight title belts, according to Boxing News 24.

Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) is set to defend his title for the second time this September 26th, but with a still unannounced venue and opponent, as per the New York Daily News. As for the site, Brooklyn's Barclays Center is the first option, but there are no hints of any potential opponents just yet.

Brooklyn native Shannon Briggs, who was the last American to reign as heavyweight champion back in 2006 before Wilder did it again early this year, is a speculated rival. Briggs had always desired to fight Klitschko, but it never happened, which made him set his sights on Wilder this time.

Wilder is quick to deny the rumor, saying that the 43-year-old fighter was just doing his acts "for the cameras", referring to the near melee Briggs caused during the press conference of Klitschko's bout with Bryant Jennings in April. He pointed out, though, that he would retire Briggs if ever they face each other in the ring.

However, the fighter that Wilder would really want to face is the reigning champ in his division, Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs), but he wants it to take place in America.

The 39-year-old Ukrainian is currently under a five-fight deal with a broadcast company in Germany. The contract extends beyond 2016 and it is not clear if Klitschko would retire at the end of it, meaning if Wilder really wants a piece of the old guard, then he may have to step out of the country to make it happen.

Bleacher Report noted that the Alabama native wanted to be the best heavyweight boxer ever. To achieve his goal, Wilder must fight the second longest reigning heavyweight champion of all time, next only to boxing legend Joe Louis, while the Ukrainian is still available. Convincingly beating Klitschko would cement his place at least as one of the greatest heavyweights in history.

Klitschko will be facing the light-hitting but dynamic character of Briton Tyson Fury on October 24 at the Esprit Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany to defend his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring heavyweight titles.
