A day earlier, a man died and more than 12 people sustained injuries after a tent where people had taken shelter during a brief storm, blew off its moorings and collapsed on the crowd attending the Wood Dale Prairie Fest in Chicago.

"The injured were taken to the regional hospitals and are undergoing treatment. The accident happened at half-past five in the evening when the first of the two scheduled circus shows was about to begin. The fair ground in Lancaster is around 90 miles north of the state capital in Concord," said State Fire Marshal William Degnan.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the area during the time of the collapse.

Alhough the state police could not give the exact number of people inside the tent when it collapsed, they estimate there were at least 100 people. Government agencies are monitoring the condition closely.

Due to the unpredictable weather conditions, the famous Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago's Grant Park was briefly shut down on Sunday afternoon. While it resumed an hour later, the festival was concluded early when another storm hit the area.

In November last year, New Hampshire was hit by a major snowstorm - it was fourth largest in the history of the state. Around 200,000 houses and business were affected.
