"Heavenly King" Andy Lau does not mind losing millions of money as long as he can spend more time with his three-year-old daughter Hanna. According to reports on Tuesday, the 53-year-old singer-actor ultimately turned down a job offer worth 50 million yuan (approximately US $7.8 million) since he refused to leave his only child in Hong Kong for a long time.

Producers of "The Voice of China" reportedly sought for Lau to become one of the four coaches and offered the said amount, which was originally bargained for by the Hong Kong star in Jan. 2014. In an article by The Hollywood Reporter, Lau's agency revealed that he was already in talks with the show producers regarding his stint as a coach alongside Cantopop singer Na Ying, Taiwanese singer-songwriter A-Mei, and Chinese rock singer Wang Feng. Lau was supposed to take the place of Taiwanese singer-composer Harlem Yu in season 3.

During the initial discussions, Lau allegedly asked for 50 million yuan but was offered 30 million yuan instead. Despite the huge drop in his requested talent fee, the amount was still a far cry from the 15 million yuan that two coaches were set to receive each. It was also reported to be higher than the 10 million yuan commanded by Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi on "The X Factor: China's Strongest Voice" and Hong Kong celebrity Nicholas Tse on the competition "Super Boy."

Hong Kong tabloid Apple Daily further claimed that Lau's "The Voice" fee is the highest amount ever earned by any talent show judge in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Aside from declining the million-dollar "The Voice" project, Lau also cleared his schedule of all world tours and any possible movie offer. For the doting father, every opportunity to be with his daughter counts and he cannot afford to be separated from her for too long.

In July, Lau reportedly enrolled Hanna at a regular kindergarten school in Hong Kong. The celebrity dad preferred to give his daughter a humble upbringing and rejected the idea of sending her to international or exclusive boarding school.
