Veteran guard Jason Terry finally decides to stay with the Houston Rockets as he agreed to sign with the team for a one-year veteran's minimum deal on Monday.

Terry saw his production go into a steep decline two seasons ago when he was with the Brooklyn Nets after being traded from the Boston Celtics with game averages of 4.5 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists as he was fielded in for only 16.3 minutes a night.

It looked like the former Arizona's career is over, but then he was traded again to the Rockets where he played an unexpected starting role after regular starting point guard Patrick Beverley suffered a season-ending injury in September of last year, as noted by Sports Illustrated.

The 16-year pro found himself as the new starter for Kevin McHale's crew and played a crucial during Houston's deep playoff run during the recent postseason where he averaged 9.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists supporting their MVP James Harden in the backcourt.

More importantly, the 37-year-old provided the team much-needed veteran leadership, playoff experience, and guidance inside the locker room.

CBS Houston indicated that Terry also had talks with the New Orleans Pelicans and have in fact considered playing with up and coming superstar Anthony Davis before finally arriving at the decision of staying with Harden and the Rockets.

The re-signing was confirmed by Rockets general manager Darryl Morey after he tweeted on Monday a "Welcome Back" note for the man they call The Jet.

ESPN reported that Terry actually advised the Rockets' front office as early as last week that he had chosen to remain in Houston this coming season and would sign for the vet's minimum.

It was said that the Seattle native wanted to have the opportunity to win an NBA title once again as opposed to the bigger money offered by the Pelicans.

Meanwhile, the Rockets' management alluded to Terry's skills of playing both guard spots and his playoff experience as the main reasons why they want The Jet to come back and play for the franchise.

With his return and Beverley's, Terry is expected to play his more familiar role of backup guard behind the latter and new acquisition T.Y. Lawson.
