The sequel will be based on the follow-up novel written by Welsh titled "Porno." Boyle told Deadline that all the actors are willing to come back for the movie.

"All the four main actors want to come back and do it. Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together, which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series," the director said.

"Trainspotting" starred Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, Ewen Bremner, and Jonny Lee Miller. The film has been ranked as number 10 by the British Film Institute in the Top 100 British films of all time.

Miller is currently part of CBS' "Elemental" while Carlyle has a recurring role in ABC's "Once Upon a Time."

Boyle revealed that screenwriter John Hodge is already done writing the script for the sequel and he said it's "terrific." Hodge also penned "A Less Life Ordinary" and "The Beach." "Porno" will feature the four actors again this time embarking in the world of pornography. "Trainspotting" is about heroin addiction.

Boyle's latest movie is "Steve Jobs" which stars Michael Fassbender. The biopic is a strong Oscar contender for Best Picture. The British director is an Academy Award winner for "Slumdog Millionaire." He also won the Golden Globes and BAFTA for the same film. Boyle is also known for directing "The Beach," "28 Days Later," "127 Hours," and "Shallow Grave."
