Former Criterion developers Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry founded a new company a year ago and probably be making a new successor to its former studio's flagship franchise Burnout.

Ward and Sperry left the studio last year and brought a team of top staff with them to form 'Three Fields Entertainment'. At last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, the studio was suggested and remained silent to its upcoming racing projects. Recently, the studio is tweeting about their new game which features an innovative twist on a sports game that is fast, funny and heavy on social multiplayer.

Three Fields Entertainment official Twitter account announced that the team is developing a multiplayer sports driving game which seems to be out this spring. The developer gives a hint that the game may be speedy, traffic and crashing, lots and lots of crashing. The studio seems to revive Burnout in spirit, according to Stuff, rather than the name, as the company this week revealed that they are working on an arcade racer in the vein of the classic series.

Burnout games have actually five entries; the series was followed by Burnout 2: Point of Impact in 2002, Burnout 3: Takedown in 2004, Burnout Revenge in 2005, and the most recent open world is Burnout Paradise.

The series eventually ended up under Electronic Arts, but after that Fantastic 2008 entry, the publisher puts developer Criterion Games on the Need for Speed franchise. And according to TV News Room, the developer is moving to newer and even better things -- aiming to support PlayStation Virtual Reality and Oculus Rift.

The developer did not give any other details about the game, in connection to Ward's statement that the game will be revealed after the launch of its first title, which should be announced early this year.
