Lawyers On New Hampshire Teen Abduction: Abby Hernandez ‘Suffered’ While Detained

New Hampshire teenager Abigail Hernandez had 'suffered' violently in the hands of her kidnapper during the nine months that she disappeared, Hernandez family lawyers stated on Tuesday.

A statement was put together by the family's legal counsel at the 'Bring Abby Home' website, which was initiated after 'Abby' went missing on October 9.

Abby had allegedly 'suffered' from violence inflicted by the man authorities have in custody. The suspect was charged with kidnapping after she disappeared for over nine months.

"Abby was violently abducted by a stranger. For many months, she suffered numerous acts of unspeakable violence," family lawyer Michael Coyne stated.

The lawyer also cited that Abby is alive today only because of her 'faith, fortitude, and resilience.'

The statement calls for people to be sensitive to Abby's feelings and allow her to heal physically and emotionally at her own pace.

"It is going to be a long process in pursuit of justice for Abby and for Abby to get physically and emotionally stronger," he stated.

According to Coyne, Abby and her family was overwhelmed with requests for interviews from the media, disrespecting the teen's desire to deal with the case privately.

He also confirmed that further charges will be revealed as they pursue the case.

Abby was 14 years old when she was forcibly taken on October by a 34-year-old man identified as Nathaniel Kibby, who is now in police custody.

The teen, now 15 years old, mysteriously returned home on July 20, nine months after the abduction. Meanwhile, Kibby was arrested a week after her return.

The probe on the New Hampshire abduction is now focused on the suspect's trailer house and backyard storage in Gorham, around 30 miles north of Conway.

Kibby is now detained on $1 million bond. His lawyer, Jesse Friedman, had refused to make a comment on the issue aside from declaring that his client is innocent.
