Point guard Jeremy Lin recently admitted that he was offered by his former team, the 2015 NBA champions Golden State Warriors, a spot in their roster during the offseason, but he rejected it and chose the Charlotte Hornets instead so he could have the chance of playing a bigger role within the success of a team.

"I entertained it," Lin told the New York Post, referring to rumors that the Warriors have reached out to him to return to the Bay Area. "I just felt like they had something great going there, and if I went there, it would be a very limited role. I felt like, 'I'm 27 now.' I want to find where I can be as big a part of a successful team as I can."

An article by SB Nation went out in July saying Golden State is actually "trying to get" the Palo Alto native, but negotiations did not go anywhere.

Lin, once the main star of a growing revolution with the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden albeit for a short time period, has become an off the bench scoring and playmaking option at best since his "Linsanity" days.

After unheralded stints with the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers from 2012-2013 up to last season, he ended up being the team's main substitute behind 2011 ninth overall selection and Michael Jordan-favorite Kemba Walker.

Indeed, his role is bigger with the Hornets right now than what it would have been if he had chosen Golden State particularly because the defending champs already have league MVP Steph Curry, the nightmare-of-a-matchup Shaun Livingston, and spitfire Leandro Barbosa alternating at the no. 1 spot. He would have been fourth in the depth chart and back where he was deep in an NBA team bench five years ago.

Lin is currently averaging 11.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 22.9 minutes of play per night, numbers that are great for a sixth man in any squad.

If he continues to be in top form, then he may soon find himself inserted in Steve Clifford's starting unit or perhaps winning the Sixth Man of the Year award this season.
