Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn said that a fight between Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) and his ward Kell Brook (35-0, 24 KOs) is looming to happen next year after eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao has crossed Khan's name off his list of possible opponents for his last fight in April.

Pacquiao, who is reportedly choosing among Khan, Terence Crawford, and Timothy Bradley for his farewell performance next year before entering Philippine politics full-time, had been rumored of leaning to a third fight with Bradley.

Bleacher Report indicated "that decision looks set to pave the way for a massive showdown between the Brit and his compatriot Kell Brook next summer" as Hearn had been persuading Khan to forget about Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. and just move on with his career.

Khan had been chasing both pound-for-pound champions ever since 2013 and the Briton has not been successful at getting the nods of either superstar until the two finally met in the "Fight of the Century" last May.

Recently, it was reported that Khan is close to sealing a match with Pacquiao in Las Vegas or Dubai, but those ended up as just mere speculations.

"Amir's not got the Pacquiao fight," Hearn said, as per Boxing Scene. "I always felt Brook is the obvious choice, but Mayweather and Pacquiao were big fights for Khan and now they are not happening."

"I have said to Amir that if we don't get this sorted in the next couple of weeks we will miss the boat for a summer fight. Brook one million percent wants the fight, now I believe Khan wants the fight, so we will meet next week and I believe we will get the deal done," the British promoter added.

Because of Khan's incessant pursuit of getting a Mayweather or Pacquiao fight, he only had one match the whole of 2015, which many analysts believed has stalled his promising boxing career.
