Indiana Pacers small forward Solomon Hill is reportedly on the trading block this midseason and the New Orleans Pelicans are said to be one of the teams interested in dealing for the 6-foot-7 versatile wing man.

Fansided's Maxwell Ogden listed five "noteworthy players" that could be dealt by their mother teams as the unofficial NBA trade season opened on Dec. 15 and the 24-year-old Los Angeles native is included in his run down.

Ogden noted that the Pacers may have regretted drafting Hill at 23rd overall in the 2013 draft as most NBA analysts had projected during that time that he will land in the second round.

The article also disclosed that Hill is indeed officially in the trading block for the Pacers, although no team has formally offered any package for the third year pro.

However, The Times Picayune's John Reid confirmed that the Pelicans are eyeing Hill to join their flimsy wing rotation, saying that the Pacers "are shopping small forward Solomon Hill and the New Orleans Pelicans are one of the teams that have inquired about his potential availability, sources confirm".

Reid also said that New Orleans "could be looking to strengthen the small forward spot because Quincy Pondexter remains sidelined in his recovery from knee surgery and there remains no timetable on his return".

Right now, Alvin Gentry's team is settling for the pair of Alonzo Gee and Dante Cunningham alternating at the no. 3 spot and both players have not produced enough for the Pelicans to rise in the stacked Western Conference.

With injuries to most of their starting backcourt and wing players, New Orleans badly needs a boost in these positions.

Earlier this month, a rumor that Jrue Holiday and Eric Gordon could be traded to the Chicago Bulls for Derrick Rose and Tony Snell have surfaced as the Pelicans try to mend their roster after such a bad start to the current season.
