Authorities arrested two teenage boys from South Pasadena High School on Monday after allegedly conspiring to specifically kill three staffers and gun down "as many as possible" fellow students at their school. The mass shooting plan was timely thwarted by the police upon receiving a tip from the South Pasadena High School administrators. Both students were arrested after serving search warrants at their homes.

"Enough evidence was discovered, and based on that evidence the two students were arrested," the police disclosed, but refused to identify the pair or provide further comments regarding the arrest. In addition, authorities described that one of the boys was placed under police custody without incident. On the other hand, the other student "resisted arrest and officers had to force entry into his residence". The uncooperative boy was eventually captured in his own home despite attempting to run away from the officers.

South Pasadena Police Sgt. Brian Solinsky disclosed that the boys were immediately placed under surveillance since the school district administrators alerted them with the information last Thursday. At the time of the surveillance and arrest, both students still had no weapons to use in implementing their plans. However, Solinsky shared that the teenage boys were taking steps to acquire the guns. Without further elaborating on other details included on the plan, Solinsky said that the boys were "very specific" and even included named targets on their plot.

According to investigators, the boys were researching about various firearms, which included rifles and submachine guns, as well as bombs and other explosives, particularly propane. Apart from these, they were also researching on "how to fire and assemble" the weapons. "This is a prime example of school officials recognizing suspicious behavior," Solinsky announced in a statement. "It was this information that helped prevent a horrific tragedy."

Both teenage boys were set to start their senior year this year. To date, approximately 1,500 students were currently enrolled at the said high school.
