Android 6.0 and 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update: Moto E, Moto G, moto X Pure, Moto X Style and Droid Turbo 2

Several Motorola devices are expected to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update over the coming weeks.

Today, people wait for software updates because they are excited about new features and security is increasingly becoming important.

Several devices are still waiting for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, which is currently being rolled out by top smartphone OEMs such as Sony, HTC and Samsung. Motorola is also releasing the upgrade for its 2014 and 2015 handsets and is set to release Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in the first quarter of 2016.

The Android 6.0 update test for Moto X Pure Edition 205 was released in December 2015 and some carriers have already rolled out the update to their subscribers. The update is also available for Moto X Style owners in different regions such as Europe, India and Brazil.

The Employee Edition of the Moto X Force and Verizon Droid Turbo 2 have exclusively received the Android 6.0 upgrade, but the firmware upgrade is still unavailable for the general versions of these devices. Meanwhile, Moto G 2015 is now receiving the Android Marshmallow update. However, the Moto G 2014 and Moto G 4G 2014 will likely receive it in the coming weeks.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow is currently unavailable for Moto X Play and Verizon Droid Maxx 2. Motorola hasn't rolled out the Android M upgrade for the Moto E 2015 yet and it will unlikely get it. While it is still unclear when the upgrade will be rolled out, Android 6.0 is expected to come to the Moto Maxx and Droid Turbo smartphones. The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes with a minor update with over 200 emoji and performance improvements.
