Drafted in 2010 as the 27th over-all pick selected by the New Jersey Nets, Crawford played for a total of four teams in the league during his four year NBA tenure.

In the same year that Crawford was drafted, the Nets traded his rights to the Atlanta Hawks and he eventually signed a rookie scale contract with the team. Early in the year 2011, Crawford was again traded; this time to the Washington Wizards along with Mike Bibby and Maurice Evans for Hilton Armstrong and Kirk Hinrich.

In February 2013, the Wizards traded Crawford to the Boston Celtics for Jason Collins and the Brazilian Leandro Barbosa. During his stint with the Celtics, Crawford was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week on December 9, 2013, according to the NBA's official website.

The Celtics sent Crawford and MarShon Brooks to the Warriors as part of a three-team trade involving the Miami Heat, the Golden States Warriors and the Boston Celtics on the middle of January 2014. During his Warriors spell, he scored a career high 41 points in a 116-112 win over the Denver Nuggets in the final regular season game on April 16, 2014.

Crawford had his first CBA experience with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, appearing for just five games in the third quarter of 2014.

He appeared in five preseason games for the Chicago Bulls, but was waived before the regular season began in October 2015. He returned to China on November fitting in with Tianjin Ronggang.
