CBA Round 29: Liaoning Hunters Beats Guandong Southern Tigers, Sichuan Blue Whales Continue Winning Streak

(Photo : gettyimages.com) Liaoning Hunters' Lester Hudson scored 35 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 6 assists in their game against the Guandong Tigers.

Liaoning Hunters snapped the five-game winning streak of the fifth ranked Guandong Southern Tigers with a close and exciting 102-100 victory in the 29th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Sunday night.

The host team trailed by nine points after three quarters before starting a 35-24 charge to steal the game and register the win. Liaoning was 85.0 percent from the foul line shooting 17 of 20 free shots.  Defense was a key factor for the victory with the Hunters making seven shot blocks in the match.

Former NBA player Lester Hudson, who was the 2009 NBA draft 58th overall pick selected by the Boston Celtics, scored 35 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 6 assists. While import forward Shavlik Randolph contributed 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assist. Chinese superstar Guo Ailun added 14 point, 4 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners.

American point guard Will Bynum scored 33 points, 7 rebound and 6 assists, while Chinese basketball hotshot and former NBA player Jianlian Yi chipped in 15 points, 9 rebounds and 1 assist for the Guandong Southern Tigers.

With the win, Liaoning extended their winning-streak to eight consecutive victories and maintained their hold of the fourth spot in league's standings with 22 wins and 7 loses. Guandong on the other hand, dropped to the sixth place, with 20-9 record.

In the other games of the round 29 of the CBA, league's top dweller Sichuan Blue Whales crushed the Foshan Long-Lions with a 117-104 victory and stretched their winning streak to eleven games straight in a row. They maintain their hold of the top together with Xinjiang Flying Tigers with a 24-5 record.

Foshan Long-Lions on the other side, suffered their 26th lose in 29 games played, keeping them at the bottom of the standings.

Tianjin bowed to Qingdao 95 - 105, DongGuan smashed North Control B.112-96, Shandong FB routs Fujian QB 100-79, Jiangsu TX yielded to Guangsha L.100-120, Beijing Ducks demolished Zhejiang CB96-76, Xinjiang FT tamed Bayi R118-97, Jilin NE T surrendered to Shanxi Z 123-133 and Jiangsu outlasted Shanghai S.108-97.
