Recent rumors were out that the Boston Celtics are eyeing the Atlanta Hawks duo of point guard Jeff Teague and center Al Horford during the current NBA trade season.

RealGM reported the speculations, saying that the 17-time NBA Champions "have inquired about the availability of Al Horford and Jeff Teague" and that they have confirmed of possessing a "considerable number of trade assets to facilitate a trade".

The Hawks are said to be willing to deal the 27-year-old Teague out of Atlanta to give way to their emerging German point guard Dennis Schröder, who at 22 years old is already one of the most reliable floor generals in the Eastern Conference.

Meanwhile, Horford is also a highly valuable big man who has an expiring contract that could prove to be beneficial during this coming summer's trade transactions.

Fansided's Michael Saenz noted that of all the trade rumors emerging these days, this is the one most likely to happen as the Hawks are looking to rebuild off their top two veterans while the Celtics indeed "have the ability to make a reasonable trade offer".

While Boston is already point guard heavy with Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart sharing starting duties, adding Teague is not a problem as there are also speculations that Danny Ainge is looking to trade either Thomas or Smart to pull off an even better high-profile signing.

Horford would be a key addition to the Celtics' young frontcourt, but it is also highly possible that Ainge will just wait for his contract to expire this summer before making an aggressive move to acquire him.

Teague is currently averaging 14.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 5.5 dimes in 45 games as Atlanta's starting point guard while Horford is contributing 15.2 points, 7.1 boards, and 3.0 assists in 48 games so far this season as the starting center.

Aside from the Hawks tandem, Boston is also reportedly still eyeing a trade that would involve Sacramento Kings' superstar center DeMarcus Cousins. The Celtics have not yet given up in their quest to sign the franchise player and trading some of their assets may not be the best move for the club at this moment.
