Rumors are out that Chelsea FC goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is planning a Stamford Bridge exit this summer after only a season with the reigning English Premier League champions.

The Sun reported that the 28-year-old Bosnian footballer "has become increasingly frustrated at playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois" and would like to move away from the Blues next season.

Begovic has appeared 20 times for Chelsea this season but had only been used once by current interim manager Guus Hiddink. He became a starter under Jose Mourinho in September of last year after Courtois suffered a leg injury that required surgery and was sidelined indefinitely.

The 6-foot-6 Trebinje, SFR Yugoslavia native was not impressive during his debut in Chelsea's starting lineup as the team lost to Manchester City, 0-3 at the Etihad.

However, following the loss, Begovic came back focused and had a string of several clean sheets before Courtois came back early from his injury and replaced the Bosnian in the team's starting eleven just two months later in December.

Begovic is reportedly unhappy because of his lack of regular game time in the first team even though the 23-year-old Courtois is not necessarily having an excellent season himself.

If the exit will push through, it will just be one of the many anticipated departures from Stamford Bridge this summer. Most notable of all is the impending exodus of Chelsea team captain John Terry, who is speculated to move to China next season after allegedly receiving a highly lucrative offer from a still unnamed Chinese Super League giant.

Caught Offside noted that should the former Portsmouth standout leave, "he would surely have no shortage of offers" from the top squads not only in England but also around the world.

Begovic was signed by the Blues to a four-year contract in July of last year, paying a transfer fee of £8 million to Stoke City FC. He played six seasons for the Potters since 2009-2010, appearing in 172 games mainly as a starter and also scored a goal.
