Basketball News: Eugene Jeter of Shandong Golden Stars Bags Player of the Week Award in CBA

Former Sacramento Kings point guard Eugene "Pooh" Jeter of the Shandong Golden Stars put on an outstanding performance in their 138-134 loss game to the  league's sixth ranked Guangsha Lions, earning him the right to be named Player of the Week in the 37th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.

The 32-year-old American-Ukranian professional basketball player displayed a very impressive performance, scoring a game-high 59 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out six assists.

Shandong currently sits at the fifth spot of the team standings having a record of 27 wins and 10 losses.

The former University of Portland player had a remarkable 87.5 percent shooting from the 2-point range and connected 12 big treys out of his 18 attempts from the three-point area. The former Pilots point guard has turned to be the Shandong's top player in his first season with the team with his very impressive stats this year.

Jeter, a naturalized Ukranian who played for the Ukraine national squad, is the league's 8th best in assists averaging 5.8 assists per game. He is CBA's seventh best in steals with an average 2.3 steals per outing. He is shooting a steady 56.8 percent from the field and has 43.4 percent accuracy from the three-point region.

The second best performer in the league's last round was the former NBA player Jeremy Pargo of the Guangsha Lions. The former Cleveland Cavaliers point guard recorded an impressive double-double game performance of 43 points and 20 assists.

The 29-year-old American is the league's second best in the assist department, dishing out an average of 8.5 assists per game. Pargo, who played college basketball for the Gonzaga University Bulldogs, is a newcomer at Guangsha team but he quickly became one of the team's most reliable players.

He previously played with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA.
