USA Basketball has announced its final 12-man roster that will compete at the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.

The final list includes six NBA All-Stars in a lineup that has no player aged more than 28.

Jerry Colangelo, managing director of USA Basketball, admitted that the selection process was very difficult, but it all goes down to creating the best team possible.

Lillard and Hayward, along with DeMar DeRozan and Andre Drummond, did not play in the team's 112-86 blowout victory against Puerto Rico. However, the latter two made it to the team. The game marked the team's final exhibition game before leaving for Spain on Saturday.

Team USA officials stated earlier that there is a possibility of bringing more than 12 players in Spain. However, coach Mike Krzyzewski said after the game that he wanted to comply with the maximum number of players allowed for the tournament.

The team consists of big men Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, DeMarcus Cousins, and Mason Plumlee, Forwards Kenneth Faried and Rudy Gay, and a deep backcourt of Stephen Curry, DeMar DeRozan, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson and Derrick Rose.

Lillard being cut was due to a log full of guards on the roster. Korver, Hayward, and Parsons did not make the list because Thompson, DeRozan, and Harden is already filling the spot and Gay is the only full-pledged small forward on the team.

The final 12 will have another exhibition game, which be held in Spain, against Slovenia. The game will take place before the official start of the tournament on August 30.

Team USA has lived up to its reputation by winning the last three championships; the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2010 FIBA World Cup in Turkey, and the 2012 London Olympics.
