Not much has been revealed regarding the current status of the "Final Fantasy" series, even its creator Hironobu Sakaguchi has been quiet about it. However, Sakaguchi's company Mistwalker announced on Feb. 22 that it is forming a partnership with Silicon Studio to develop a new title.

Not much was revealed about the joint project between Silicon Studio and Mistwalker, aside from a single piece of concept art which was released to the press. Silicon Studio claims that the art piece was created by Kimihiko Fujisaka, who started working on the project more than seven years ago.

Sakaguchi flaunts his trademark sketchy style although the graphics are rumored to be released in 3D format. The game is expected to be announced sometime this year and will be released for current generation console.

At the moment, the game's official title, genre and release date have not been revealed.

Following the release of the art work, rumors started to surface regarding the still unknown project. Some fans claim that the game might be a console version of "Terra Battle," a mobile game that has been long requested by fans to be ported on the console platform.

Sakaguchi has indeed confirmed that his company started working on a console version of "Terra Battle" in April 2015. However, not much details were released regarding the project.

Mistwalker has been busy developing games in the mobile platform recently. The studio released titles such as "Blade Guardian," and "Party Wave."

As for Silicon Studio, the company has released several titles following the massive success of "Bravely Default" in 2012. The studio released a follow-up game dubbed "Bravely Second: End Layer." The studio also released a handful of role-playing titles like "Age of Ishtaria," "Grand Sphere" and "Monster Takt."
