Former Chinese Basketball Association reinforcement Alan Williams has landed a 10-day contract with Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association.

Williams played for the Qingdao Double Star Eagles averaging 20.8 points, 2.1 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.6 blocked shots per game in the 35 matches he played in the 2015-16 CBA regular season. The listed 6-foot-8 center/power forward American guided Qingdao to a thirteenth and fourteenth place finish in the league with a 16 wins and 22 losses.

Williams, 23, played collegiate basketball with the University of California Santa Barbara Gauchos from 2011 to 2015. He was the varsity team's all-time leader in rebounds and second all-time leading scorer.

He was named the 2014 Big West Conference Player of the Year when he was in his junior year with the team and become an All-Big West First-Team member for three straight years (2013-2015). Williams was the NCAA leading rebounder for the years 2014 and 2015.

Despite his impressive achievements during his college basketball years, Williams went undrafted in the 2015 NBA draft. He played in the 2015 NBA Summer League with Charlotte Hornets for three games and Houston Rockets for four matches, where he earned All-NBA Summer League Second Team award.

"I can't think of another way to do it: playing for the hometown team in front of tons of family and friends," Williams said. "Just being able to represent this organization that I've grown so fond of over my 23 years of living, being from Phoenix and watching the older teams play and now watching this team play, just being able to be part of that history is something that I'm really fortunate and really blessed to be able to do."

The Phoenix Suns are currently at the bottom of the Western Conference team standings with 17 wins and 47 losses this season.
