During the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in January, Roku along with its TV manufacturer partners announced that they will be releasing some 4K TVs into the market this year. Roku has now announced that the first 4K Roku TV is finally available for sale.

Roku announced on March 10 that it is releasing its first ever 4K TV, which was developed alongside TV-manufacturer Insignia. The Insignia-Roku 4K Ultra HD TVs will be exclusively available at Best Buy, both online and on their physical stores before the end of the month.

According to Engadget, the price of these Roku 4K TVs range from $400 for the 43-inch LED 4K TV model and $650 for the 55-inch model. There is also a 50-inch model that costs $500.

Roku claims that the TVs will be available initially in the United States with some of the models also shipping to Canada. Roku is yet to confirm whether it plans to release the 4K TVs outside of North America. Compared to 4K Ultra HD TVs produced by Samsung, LG or Sony, Roku 4K TVs are significantly less expensive.

For the uninitiated, Roku TVs are a brand of TV that runs on the Roku operating system. This means that users are not required to purchase an external Roku box or stick in order to stream online videos from Roku. Roku branded TVs are still compatible with cable, although the default interface is set to Roku's own UI.

According to The Verge, Roku is not making a profit off of sales of Roku branded TVs from its partners like Hisense, Haier or TCL. Instead, Roku benefits from this deal through its licensing platform.

Aside from Insignia-Roku 4K TVs, TCL is also expected to ship its own 4K Roku TV this year. However, both Roku and TCL are yet to confirm the official timeline of the release.
