The 'Transformers' movie, aside from making it big in Chinese box office records, is also making it big in the hearts and yards of its fans. A farmer from northwest China's Gansu province, for example, has built his own 6.8-meter tall replica of Bumblebee, one of the characters found in the franchise.

The farmer, Zhang Song, built his replica over four months, by bending, cutting and welding recycled car and motorcycle parts, scrap steel and used fire extinguishers, The China News Service reports. His masterpiece weighs two tons, stands 6.8 meters high, and measures 2.9 meters across its shoulders. It is able to stand with the help of three poles.

The finished model can be found in Zhang's home courtyard located in Hazhai village and Zhangye prefecture.

Toys For the Big and Small Boys

Zhang is not the only Chinese man to build his own replica of Bumblebee. Back in August, a shipyard welder also built his own, but not just as a hobby – it's because he promised to build one for his son.

Wang Liansheng of eastern China built a 5-meter tall, 3-meter wide version of Bumblebee out of old car parts and scrap metal. It can be seen in his backyard located in Suqian, Jiangsu province.

The project started after Wang and his son watched the Transformers movie, reports Thepaper.cn. At the time, Wang couldn't afford to buy a toy model for his son so he promised to make him one instead.

He then realized that he had to deliver what he promised.

“As a father,” Wang explained, “I can’t just say something and not do it.”

He then quit his job to work on the promised replica. After a year and 140,000 yuan, his promised replica was finished.

For Wang, who has made his son proud of what he's done, it's worth all the trouble.
