English Premier League club Chelsea FC is reportedly intending to make a summer move for underperforming Barça midfielder Arda Turan, according to recent reports.

Metro indicated that the Blues could be keen on snagging the 29-year-old Turkey international from the Nou Camp this summer as newly-appointed head coach Antonio Conte "will be looking for new blood" to thrive at the Stamford Bridge next season.

It was said that Conte's style will be satisfied by Turan's "undeniable competitive spirit", which is what the Fulham, London residents had "based their successes upon over the last few seasons, but indeed what they have lacked for the most part of the current campaign".

The 5-foot-10 Fatih, Turkey native is currently suited up for La Liga champions FC Barcelona, although it took him six months in the sidelines before he was able to play in Luis Enrique's first team because of FIFA's enforced transfer ban on the Catalonia giants which was lifted only this January.

Because of the long layoff, Turan had been struggling with his form in the pitch, which was highlighted during his poor performance in Barça's recent El Clásico loss as Real Madrid scored both of their goals from his side of the field.

Barça signed Turan in July of last year but only made his club debut on January 6th of this year in a 4-1 Barcelona derby win over RCD Espanyol during the first leg of their Round-of-16 match in the Copa del Rey.

He then played his first La Liga match three days later, assisting in Lionel Messi's opening goal during the team's 4-0 victory over Granada at the Camp Nou.

Turan has only scored two goals in 14 domestic matches so far, something that has reportedly left Enrique "a little underwhelmed by his performances", which could be his ticket out of the Blaugrana this offseason.

Caught Offside noted, though, that the former Atletico Madrid attacking midfielder "is desperate to stay" with FCB even as he wants more playing time from Enrique moving forward.

It was said that Turan is just beginning to "acclimatize to his new surroundings" in Barcelona coming from the country's capital city and 14 games and nine starts are not enough to show any real impact on the field.
