Dunst and Hedlund first met in 2010 while both were doing the Walter Salles-directed film On the Road. Their relationship soon blossomed and was considered by many as Dunst's recovery from the depression she suffered in 2008. It can be recalled that the actress had been very vocal about her confinement at the Cirque Lodge in Utah, a treatment center for the depressed and unstable.

In January, the 33-year-old actress and the 31-year-old actor were seen together content and happy at the Golden Globes. They were also spotted at the awards night party thrown and sponsored by Fox earlier this year.

Back in November of 2015, Dunst revealed to The Edit what she ultimately looks for in a guy hinting that she is really into "manly" boyfriends. She added that she had dated and had been together with men whose feminine side was more prominent but things did not seem to work out, hence the change of heart.

In the interview, the Fargo actress also implied on already wanting to have a family of her own.

"I want to continue acting, but I also want to have kids," Dunst said.

She mentioned having her children in the near future has become a top priority and that she was looking at the next two years to materialize anything. Apparently, after calling it quits from Hedlund, a little delay may be imminent.
