Zlatan Ibrahimović's potential move to the English Premier League this summer is met with disapproval, particularly by one of his Paris Saint-Germain teammates, team captain Thiago Silva.

The Mirror reported that the 31-year-old center back "has warned" the 34-year-old Swedish striker that he would be making a "step down" in quality "if he moves to the Premier League" as he also said that "there is a team in England that is at the level of PSG at the moment".

Ibrahimović's contract with the Ligue 1 champions is set to expire at the end of the season but there are no indications that the French club will extend his services beyond this summer. Les Parisiens had recently claimed their fourth consecutive French top flight trophy, all in the Swede superstar's era.

"He (Ibrahimović) is my good friend, but also at 34 he is playing the best football of his career. He is one of the best in the world, he is unique, there is not another player like him," Silva said, as per Caught Offside. "Of course I want him to stay at PSG, I cannot imagine us without him."

"I know he has offers from England - and it is a big league - but I don't think there is a team in England that is at the level of PSG at the moment. For me it would be a step down in quality for him," the Brazil international added.

The comments of Silva said to have added spice in PSG's Champions League quarterfinals second leg encounter with Manchester City, one of the top teams in the EPL, last Tuesday. The Paris residents were eventually eliminated by the Citizens, 1-0, at the Etihad Stadium with a Kevin De Bruyne winner at the 76th minute.

With PSG no longer in the running for this season's Champions League trophy, there are no indications on which way Ibrahimović will choose to go in the summer. After finishing the season with 39 goals and 16 assists, it is clear that the Sweden national team captain can still play at a high level in European football even at his advanced age.
