"Sing our generation's songs, tell my own jokes," the popular Chinese performer said during a press conference on Monday.

"I always wanted to perform in New York City," Zhou Libo added. "New York and Shanghai are very similar cities with beautiful skylines and wonderful people."

It can be recalled that he first gained popularity in 2006 because of his unique style in delivering jokes wherein he manages to use different Chinese languages, such as Mandarin Chinese and Shanghainese, and some English words and phrases in his performances. He eventually named it "Shanghai Style Small Talk" in 2008, which reportedly paved the way for his consistent popularity among the Chinese audience. This particular style includes "A Laughable Talk on the Past 30 Years and A Laughable Talk in Big Shanghai."

Meanwhile, Chinese stand-up comedian, who is also a television actor and host, created the "Mr. Zhou Live Show" in 2010, which was considered by several people as the first television comedic talk show in China.

Apart from the said talk show, Zhou Libo was also one of the judges of "China's Got Talent" and even created a reality show called "Chinese Dream Show" in 2011.
